Tallebudgera Beach
Fun day trip ahead! This Friday I took a little day trip to Burleigh Heads. I've already been to Burleigh Heads a fews times before but Friday I took the time to explore a little bit more and enjoy the nice fall weather. Fun fact about Friday, April 28th is that it was a record low in fall temperature for Queensland at 72°F which is roughly 22°C. Anything that is close to 20°C is considered really cold to Australians. After being here for a little over two months and starting off in the summer I've noticed that anything past 75°F feels cold to me now since I've adjusted to the heat for some time. Normally when I'm in New York 75°F and up is really warm to me. I was comfortable in leggings and short sleeves for most of the day. The day was a bit chillier than normal but nonetheless a great day. So when I got to Burleigh Heads I started off at the beach and relaxed by the love rock. This rock has the saying, "Stand here & think of someone you love". The rock is easily accessed if you walk along the rocky cove at the north side of the beach. After hanging out by the love rock I headed to Burleigh Heads national park which is right there. At the national park I went and hiked the rainforest circuit. Its about 2.3 kilometers and you should allow yourself about 45 minutes to do the hike. Most of this track is an easy grade, but there is a steep section in the middle near Tumgun lookout. This trail is only open during daylight and I would highly recommend brining along some water, a small snack, your camera, sturdy walking shoes, and sunscreen/hat if it's sunny and hot. While on the hike you can access the Tumgun lookout and see Cock rock then you can venture down to the Tallebudgera creek. Tallebudgera Creek Tourist Park sits on the waterfront of the beautiful Tallebudgera Estuary. People come here to enjoy fishing, swimming, paddle boarding, and sunbathing. I got to hang out at the creek for some time just taking in all the natural beauty around me. I was fortunate enough to get to see Dolphins swimming in the creek. That was definitely the highlight of my day.
